Synopsis
Alexandra and Jade are madly in love and desperate to have a baby. When their anguished attempts at motherhood are thwarted by biology and a toxic system, their desperation leads them to the dark arts, where they hope they may have the child they seek through magical means. They meet Brian, a conjurer who promises them a child in the form of a homunculus.
Pacts are made, powers are summoned and desperation stirs a battleground between necromantic incels and a coven of far-from-white witches, with Alex and Jade caught in the middle. It's a perfect potion in which to brew a tale of dark magic and white privilege and everywhere you look there’s a villain that needs to be burnt at the stake.
Pitch black, funny, brutal, and ultimately charming, MOTHER TONGUE is an alchemic tonic of mischief and mayhem that fuses old school sorcery and urban Australian landscapes.
